Italian way to keep beaches clean

Italians found a way to prevent beaches from being littered with cigarette butts. The newspaper "Corriere della Sera" includes ashtray in the form of green plastic envelope with snap fastener!

In this way, the Italians intend to deal with a quite big problem of leaving cigarette butts on the beaches. Beach ashtray turn out to be not only attractive, but also practical. The inside of it is made of aluminum with the words "I love my world." People for whom smoking is a regular part of sunbathing, can put cigarette butts in it without damaging the envelope. After the beach activities the ashtrays should be emptied and washed. Then the smoker can use it again. The Italian daily "Corriere della Sera" urges Italians on not to throw cigarette butts everywhere.

It is worth noting that the cigarette end resolve for about 5 years. Every day 600 thousand of butts appear on the Italian beaches. Their length is comparable to the 18-kilometer stretch of the coastline.

During the first week of August, volunteers handed out 100 thousand ashtrays on 300 beaches. Italian way for smokers and their butts is not entirely new, because before one of the Japanese tobacco company distributed 3 million of reusable ashtrays around the world, useful not only at the beach.
